Do I need to have previous yoga experience?
No. We offer beginner classes which are perfect for someone who has no experience. We also offer all level classes which are appropriate for someone who has paddle experience but no yoga experience. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you have any special needs or injuries that can affect your practice. Feel free to email Tides of Life with any concerns at any time.
Do I need to have previous SUP yoga experience?
No. If you have previous yoga experience, you can simply think of the board as your mat. Beginners classes, All levels, and Restorative classes would be perfect for you. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you have any special needs or injuries that can affect your practice.
What do I need to bring? What should I wear?
All equipment is provided (board, paddle, life vest, anchor, leash), unless you apt to BYOB (bring your own board). We will provide a coast guard approved PDF Life Vest, anchor, and leash with each BYOB sign up.
Please hydrate and bring water bottle with you, wear sunscreen, lip balm with sunscreen, hat and sunglasses as needed. Lanyard recommended for sunglasses. Please leave valuables at home. Please bring a sense of adventure and a smile. You are responsible for your own possessions. Tides of Life SUP Yoga is not responsible for any lost items , sunglasses or cell phones. Dry bag recommended if you wish to bring items with you and stow under bungee system.
In summary, we provide all the necessary paddling equipment and safety equipment, first aid kit, sunscreen, insect repellent, and water if you forgot to bring a bottle. All paddle lessons and SUP Yoga classes require a leash and life vest to be worn while paddling for safety. Life Vests and leashes are optional during SUP Yoga Classes.
Please wear swimsuit or water-suitable clothing such as surf shorts, or athletic wear that is wicking and will dry quickly . Water shoes are required (closed toe recommended) and can be stowed under bungee system on each board. Many location boat launches are rocky or concrete. Please bring change of clothes if needed after class and a towel. Bring any personal prescriptions (epipen/inhaler) as needed, Always optional to bring a waterproof camera for taking pictures. Tides of life SUP Yoga takes at least one picture each scheduled class.
What is your cancellation policy?
Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Tides of Life SUP Yoga will contact you by email within 3 hours of class if cancellation is due to weather. Contact us by email to receive your cancellation refund. No-shows will be charged the full price. If the class has begun and still needs to be canceled for whatever reason, participants will be given a portion relevant to the length of time the class was conducted.
Are the classes appropriate for children?
You must be 13 years of age or older to participate in any SUP Yoga classes, paddles, or events. A guardian must co-sign the waiver and release. Children are allowed to participate in beach clean-ups with a guardian present.
Can I bring my own board?
Yes. Be sure to choose the BYOB option when you sign up. This option is more cost-effective and allows you the freedom of using your own cherished equipment. Please allow extra time for setup prior to class.
What else do I need to know?
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM to participate in learn to paddle classes and SUP Yoga.
A Waiver and a Covid release must be signed prior to any class or event.
If participating in a beach clean-up, please email us or reach out by social media for a separate waiver and release that is needed for Blue Ocean Society.
